The purpose of the Pediatric Webinar Series is to provide pertinent pediatric otolaryngologic discussions relevant to practicing otolaryngologists lead by expert faculty using a robust webinar format that has been field-tested in pediatric otolaryngology fellowship education for over 3 years.

Target Audience

  • The primary audience for the webinar series is physicians and physicians-in-training who specialize in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.

Needs Assessment

The education need for this activity  was derived through a panel of experts.  Furthermore, it was also assessed based on several recent guidelines published by the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation (AAO-HNSF) relevant to pediatric otolaryngologist.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate the pathogenesis of the disease process discussed
  • Employ evidence-based medical treatment options for the disease process discussed
  • Compare the surgical options available for the disease process discussed
  • Analyze the complications associated with each of the surgical options available for the disease process discussed

Continuing Medical Education

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the AAO-HNSF and ASPO. AAO-HNSF is accredited by ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  AAO-HNSF designates this internet enduring activity for a maximum of 10.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ [SA1] for the entire series, 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™  for each individual lecture.  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAO-HNSF is accredited by ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Receiving Credit

The AMA PRA requires an assessment of learner performance therefore a post-test is included with each webinar. The participant will be directed to the post-test with a web-link at the end of each webinar. It consists of four multiple-choice questions and the minimum passing score is three correct answers (70%) with up to three attempts to reach the 70% score.

CME credit will be awarded by AAO-HNSF; your post-test scoring and CME credit will be automatically calculated and submitted to AAO-HNSF. The credit for this activity will appear on your 4 AAO-HNSF Continuing Education Transcript sent to you by February 2015.

Method of learner participation in the learning process

Users are able to move through the presentation at their own pace. The presenters’ audio is synchronized with the slide presentation. The course concludes with an assessment of the leaner’s comprehension of the subject matter.
